Mexico Mission Trip

Posted by in Church & Missions

Today, yes today, Sunday, July 25, Hannah and I, along with a team of about 18 other people, are traveling down to QuerĂ©taro, Mexico. We should have woken up around 3:00 am to get ready for what appears to be a hectic day of travel. Why? To put on a rockin’ awesome VBS for MK’s (missionary kids) while other team members hold a special retreat for their parents.

These missionaries work for the IMB (and other organizations) in Mexico and these families look forward to this annual event because they get a break from their ministry responsibilities and get to spend time with their “family away from home.” For many this is the closest thing to a family reunion they experience year round, and unless you’ve spent a good deal of time abroad, there’s nothing like speaking with other believers in your heart language when you’ve been surrounded by a foreign tongue for most of the year.

I don’t ask much of the readers or other contributors at sbcIMPACT!, but now I’m asking for your prayers. I truly covet your prayers because we have a God who is not deaf, mute, or blind. He actively pursues us and seeks relationship with us, and your prayers are an effective tool in ministry. We’re asking for safe and unhindered travel. We want speed through customs. We’re asking to be stretched and to have servants’ hearts. Below is a prayer card for the trip featuring our names and the names of another couple from our church who got us interested in this trip a few months back.

You’ll notice there’s a website. That’s because we hope to put an update or two online while we’re there to give you a sense of what is going on and how we’re seeing God work. Please check it out. It will give you a little more background on the trip and the people we’re serving with.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to partner with us as we seek to provide relief and relaxation to a few of the 5,000+ missionaries we support on foreign soil. This is an opportunity for them to step back from ministry and enjoy fellowship with other believers and time alone with God. God, in His providence, has seen fit to allow Hannah and I to participate in this special time. May He be highly glorified forever.
