Mr. Morrison,

It is such a pleasure to be able to speak with others who have been involved in the show! One of my favorite moments was seeing the horses up top run across with their flags. That is such a beautiful scene. What a job - taking care of the horses - especially during those Texas sized storms.

I remember signing up as an alumni but I will check on that. Thank you for your compliment. The Lord does teach us through our experiences. I'm still learning - every day is a lesson in itself.

You be blessed and we hope to see the show again soon.

Tina: You have a wonderful gift for articulating the challenge of the "sudden summer thounderstom that breaks like a great exploding battlefield of firearms"....as Paul Green originally wrote in the first script of Texas. What a wonderful description you gave of the excitement and phenomena of a real life storm in the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon. My wife Cheri and I performed in TEXAS for many years. My own perspective of the "storms" was the challenge of getting wranglers mounted and and the horses headed to the stables in spite of "sheets" of water and driving hail. Ah those great nights spent oiling our chaps, boots and saddles to be ready for the next day.
We are working diligently to stay in communication with all of the alumni of the shows of the Pioneer Amphitheatre. Please let the TEXAS Office know your full contact data. Our Executive Director is committed to having a reunion weekend each summer of the show. We are also committed to seeing that all the Heritage Foundation members, board, and volunteers join together to focus on the support of the CAST and CREW of the show. We have great Directors, great professional staff, and a wonderful work environment for the kids that do the show.
We look forward to you and your family coming to see the show this summer! Thanks again for you perspective of how folks face the adversity of weather storms and "other" storms in life and the need to reach out to minister to those who are afraid and in need.
God Bless you!

Tina,

If you and your family are ever in the area during the summer, the show is on us. Please stop by for a visit.

Again, thank you for writing this story.

Hello Mr. Anderson -

I was in the show in 1987 and 1989. I loved the show and it was such a wonderful learning experience for me - a lot of hard work but worth every hour in rehearsal as well as during the performances. I had just moved to Canyon and was in the very first few weeks of classes and if I remember correctly I was having my second or third voice lesson with my professor when someone from Mr. Hess's office called my professor's office looking for a Mezzo soprano that could help sing on the "Texas" sound track. I happened to have been standing right there when my teacher said, "I have what you are looking for right here." I actually sang on the track before I ever saw the show or knew anything about it. After that Mr. Hess's assistant called several times asking me to join the show for that season. I finally said yes and was so glad that I did! It was so much fun. I wish we had something like that here in Colorado.

After that storm, we never made it back to see the show. We still have tickets somewhere but I think we lost one of the four. I believe they went back to the original show and I am so pleased about that. We hope to make it back someday to see the show again.

Thank you for sharing -

Be blessed

Tina,
What year(s) were you in the show? As the executive director of TPHF, I greatly appreciate you writing this story. I received notice of it via my brother-in-law serving as a missionary in Sophia, Bulgaria. I can assure you that God continues his work at the Pioneer Amphitheatre as he has since I was in the show back in the 60's and early 70's and today as we plan the 44th season of "TEXAS".

Good Morning Jeff -

How is Amarillo? I miss the lightning storms that light up an evening - the glorious sunsets - it's magical! The storms here in Colorado are different but the lessons still come.

Thanks for your comment.

I still live in Amarillo and God has also taught me thing or two at PDC. It's amazing how He uses His creation to teach us more about Himself. It's also amazing what He does with a storm in our lives. I'm learning to trust rather than fight, but also know how much God teaches through the storm, even in our disobedience. His grace never ceases.

Dear Tina,
It was not only meant as a compliment, but a very strong suggestion.

GOD HAS BLESSED YOU WITH THE GIFT OF PUTTING INTO WRITING EXPERIENCES IN A CHILD OF GOD'S LIFE WHICH NEED TO BE SHARED.
