sbc IMPACT! Business Meeting …
Posted by Geoff Baggett in Uncategorized
Well, it wasn’t an “official” business meeting. But it was the first time since the launch of sbc IMPACT! that two of our collaborators have met face to face. I was in the Memphis area to celebrate a bit of an early Christmas with the in-laws. David Rogers and family are spending their time on stateside assignment with the IMB in the Memphis area. So David and I arranged a meeting. We met for a couple of hours yesterday morning at one of the many Starbucks on the Germantown Parkway in Cordova. David and I declared ourselves a “quorum” and promptly gave ourselves a raise. (Let’s see … naught times naught equals naught …)
We had some great coffee and delightful conversation. The time seemed to just fly be for me. (I can’t speak for David.) We even talked a really nice lady into snapping a photo for us.

This get-together made me think that we really need to have an official sbc IMPACT! meeting during the SBC in June. All contributors and commenters welcome. What do you think? Any ideas? Suggestions? (But for the love of peace, please don’t suggest a gathering at a restaurant with its own brewery.
)

Geoff and David,
I’m in.
BTW, How much did Starbucks pay you guys to model for them and hawk their Christmas products?
Roger,
No payment necessary … I’m a walking advertisement. I’m drinking from my brand new, gi-normous Starbucks cup that my mammy-in-law gave me for Christmas.
Starbucks is taking over the world …
Brother Geoff,
Were you two separated at birth? Man, if you were to grow a beard….
Oh, as for the Business meeting, What will be the voting ratio for contributors vs commenter’s?
Blessings,
Tim
Tim,
I don’t see it.
And no business at the June meeting. We’re just going select a few “best of” and other awards for our inaugural year. What do you think?
Tim,
I see it. I think it is the eyebrows…
And I’ve seen Geoff with a beard. He looks very rural Kentucky, not that that’s a bad thing.
Geoff,
Will this picture be in the 2008 SBC Impact calendar?
Do you need me and Bowden to get a picture together in our cardigans?
Can we include a picture of Les in costume from the Wesley movie?
I did have a beard … once …
I look sort of like Gandalf the Grey. I could be one of those Civil War re-enactors or something.
Indeed, those would be awesome pictures. Maybe if you both were puffing on pipes, as well.
Geoff,
You mean you don’t have a Civil War reenactors ministry at your church? I’m surprised.
I’ve never tried it, and would probably choke, but the pipe did look good on C.S. Lewis.
I’m all for the sbcIMPACT meeting in Indianapolis. I say the only votes that count are contributors. Commenters are observers only.
Les
BTW, just don’t schedule it at the same time as the Founders breakfast. ;>
Les
Brother Les,
I have it on good authority that The SBC Impact meeting will be scheduled in Branson. I know how much you guys love business. :^)
Blessings,
Tim
Brother Geoff,
I mean a neatly trimmed beard. Not one that looks like Grizzly Adams.
:^)
Blessings,
Tim
Ok, I don’t admit this often, but B.K. (before kids) and B.C. (before Christ) I started getting into the Rennsaisance stuff, grew a beard, and tried some reenacting. So, Geoff, you may have looked a bit like Gandalf, but I looked and acted a whole lot like Samwise Gamgee.
