Missions IMPACT! – World Help’s "Children of the World"
Posted by Geoff Baggett in Uncategorized
The Children of the World are a touring international children’s choir sponsored and supported by World Help. The Children of the World tour the United States for ten months each year, visiting and performing in churches and schools, raising awareness of the various ministries of World Help, and raising funds through love offerings for specific World Help projects. There are actually three touring groups this year, covering three geographic regions of the country. These beautiful children present an incredible concert full of joy, Scripture, enthusiasm, and awesome choreography. It is truly an international experience … right in your own church and community. After the concert, the children and international chaperons lodge with prearranged host families within the church, giving that handful of families the incredible blessing of having some of children stay in their homes.
On this year’s tour, all of the proceeds from those offerings is going to support ministries for children in Africa who have lost their parents to AIDS. Besides its ongoing child sponsorship program, World Help is also in the process of constructing “Villages of Hope,” which are small clusters of permanent homes for displaced, orphaned children.
World Help is a non-denominational missions agency that exists to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment through partnering, training, helping and serving, especially in the unreached areas of the world. The ministry is based in Lynchburg, Virginia. The ministry’s mission statement page explains that the ministry provides help for today and hope for tomorrow to a hurting world in four strategic ways:
H – Humanitarian Aid
E – Establishing Churches
L – Loving Children
P – Providing Bibles
There are still nine months remaining on the 2007-2008 tour. If you interested in inviting this group to your church, contact their scheduling office toll-free at 1-800-541-6691. The cost is very minimal considering the production and the incredible blessing for your church. World Help asks that a host church to provide a travel fee of $600, a hotel room for their sound and video technicians, host homes for the children, and a couple of group meals.
Consider bringing the Children of the World to your church or community. You will be blessed, indeed.

geoff,
i bet you could have never guessed that this question would be asked. what kind of churches do they start?
david
Indigenous, evangelical, Jesus-loving, Bible-believing ones.
That’s all I can tell you.
Probably not Southern Baptist churches …
But what does that have to do with the Children of the World? Seriously. All of their funds go to build homes for AIDS-orphaned children. Surely you’re not saying that if World Help helps establish indigenously-led non-Baptist churches that you can’t help them build homes for AIDS kids? Right?
Geoff: is this also the group where one can sponsor children? selahV
Yes, they have a HUGE sponsorship program. But it should not be confused with World Vision.
Our youth group sponsors a child from Uganda by hosting a breakfast table during our “intermission” between services. It is a great way for them to connect personally with the mission of World Help.
We had the Watoto children’s choir (you can look them up) come to our church. Seems to be basically the same type of ministry. I truly enjoyed the music and the up close and personal awareness of AIDS orphans in Africa. Pure religion opportunity comes to America.
geoff,
helping children who have aids is a wonderful endeavor. i’d be all for that. starting churches without knowing what they believe and how they’ll do church….naaa. i want my money going to starting sound churches that preach the true Gospel and believe the Word of God. i dont know what kind of churches this group is talking about.

Liz,
It does sound very similar. I’m sure there are many similar ministries. We had simply had a great experience with World Help.
David,
I hear you, brother. but these folks have very close ties to the Falwells and Liberty University. I’m reasonably sure you would love the kinds of churches they plant.
Geoff,
You took the words right out of my mouth. World Help is solid, because Vernon Brewer is solid.
Southern Baptist myopia notwithstanding, World Help is a model organization.
geoff and stuart,
if that be so, then amen!
david
Where will the choir be singing in Holland MI October 5th and 6th, 2007?
